FSB Calls on G20 to Strengthen Oversight of Stablecoins and AI to Protect Global Financial Systems
15.10.2026
The Financial Stability Board (FSB) has warned of growing risks associated with the use of stablecoins and artificial intelligence in the global financial system. Ahead of the G20 summit, which will take place in the coming weeks, the FSB published an analytical report highlighting the need for urgent and coordinated action to prevent potential threats to financial stability.
According to the latest FSB data, the volume of stablecoin transactions has increased by 18% over the past 12 months, while the integration of AI in the banking sector has accelerated by 27%. The regulator notes that such growth rates create new vulnerabilities, including risks of money laundering, market manipulation, and disruptions to financial infrastructures.
The FSB particularly emphasizes the need for joint efforts among G20 countries to develop uniform regulatory standards. The Council recommends strengthening the monitoring of transactions involving digital currencies, implementing mandatory audits of AI algorithms, and increasing the transparency of operations using new technologies.
Experts stress that a delayed response could lead to systemic failures and undermine confidence in financial markets. The FSB calls on governments and the private sector to cooperate closely to establish robust safeguards capable of adapting to the rapidly changing landscape of digital finance.
